Without an in-depth knowledge of the legal/insolvency system collecting “bad” debts can prove a minefield, and there is always the fear of throwing good money after bad. The problem is often in not knowing who to turn to for help - legal firms can appear daunting/costly in these sorts of cases, or the solutions offered by more traditional debt collection agencies, sending out standard letters and so forth, do not seem to have any real teeth.
